This morning, Nintendo announced that the Switch will be released in “major EU countries” on the 3rd March 2017. It will cost $299.99 in North America, ¥29,980 in Japan, and £279.99 in the U.K.
For the first time in Nintendo history, they will be switching (no pun intended) to a paid online subscription service later on this year. This news has been met with mixed feelings but on the plus side, the system will not region lock games.
The console itself looks like a lot of fun, with the controller boasting “HD Rumble” tech for a more immersive experience. It will also allow up to eight systems to sync for local multiplayer, feature a capacitive touch screen, and will have a battery life that will last roughly 2.5-6.5 hours.
